How do I start a new project from a video in the Asset Library?

You can't — Asset Library videos are for dropping onto slides. To start a project from a video, upload it via Upload screen recording under the Screen Recordings tab.

Short answer: you can’t. Videos in the Asset Library are decorative or reusable clips meant to be dropped onto slides inside an existing project — they can’t be used as the source recording that a project is built around.

To start a new project from a video, upload it as a screen recording instead:

  1. Open the Screen Recordings tab in the dashboard.
  2. Click Upload screen recording in the top menu.
  3. Choose desktop or mobile in the modal, then upload your video. Tutorial AI analyzes it for sync markers, generates the script (from your narration if the recording has audio, or from the visual content otherwise), and creates a project around it.

The two upload paths do different things: Upload screen recording (under the Screen Recordings tab) creates a project around the video; Upload media (inside the Asset Library) stores a clip for reuse on slides. See Uploading videos for the full comparison, or How do I add a video clip to a tutorial? if the Asset Library workflow is what you actually wanted.
